Free Private Cities is Titus Gebel's book about cities run by a private provider. The subtitle is Making Governments Compete For You. This is the English softcover.
What is Free Private Cities about?
Gebel describes a city in which a private company, as a government service provider, offers protection of life, liberty and property. He works out in detail what life in such a city would look like and how its citizens could organize themselves. Topics include the legal system, the contractual terms of citizenship, forms of participation, infrastructure and security, and also economics, environmental protection, architecture, culture, currency and social security. Participation is strictly voluntary.
The third edition also covers recent developments, such as how a free private city would have dealt with Covid and the first experiences in the ZEDE special zone in Honduras. Free cities and Bitcoin are also the subject of Strategies for Liberty: Free Cities and Bitcoin.
