What is Introduction to Bitcoin about?

The book is about how money arises and how it is engineered. Hilbay offers mostly a historical survey of the characteristics of money and what they mean for all of us.

His thesis is that Bitcoin has many of the traditional characteristics of sound money, as well as the attributes sound money should have given the problems of our time.

About the author

Hilbay studied economics at the University of Santo Tomas and law at the University of the Philippines. At 40 he became Solicitor General of the Philippines and represented his country in the arbitration over the West Philippine Sea. He is now Dean of the College of Law at Silliman University, where he teaches a course on money and the state.
