What is The Ancient Way of the Mind ebook about?
The author argues that analytical thinking has distanced us from ancient wisdom and from our evolutionary nature. She draws on neuroscience, Eastern philosophy and the Daoist tradition. In her view, mindfulness meditation is the way to mental and physical health, real self-knowledge and a better understanding of reality.
She links the rise in depression and anxiety to an overreliance on logic and reason. Meditation, yoga and Qi Gong, she says, can restore the balance. The book also reflects on the paradox that words cannot fully describe what has to be experienced.
